Js and one of his favorite chew toys. This picture is an example of the sort of situation where an SLR excels over a point-and-click. With a point-and-click, even one as great as the Nikon 5700, everything is more-or-less in focus. Including the distracting (and since removed) wall lamp in the background. With an SLR, the focus can be limited to that which you are photographing, the kid, blurring other non-essential and potentially distracting elements in the background.
