Introduction My life is, to me, ripe with frequent challenges, occasional successes, spontaneous laughter, adequate tears, and enough *life* to last me a lifetime. To you, however, it surely seems most pedestrian. And therefore, I recycle the name I used previously and call this my Notebooks of Daily Life. Daily, because it's everyday in nature, ordinary. These conglomeration of events that are my life are of interest to me because I live it, perhaps mildly so to those who are touched by it, and could only be of perverse, morbid curiosity to anyone else. Yet, I offer them here nonetheless. Make of them what you will, and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes. Sinasohn.Net

Sunday, May 31, 2009 As many of you know, for the past three years I have been writing for the website ParentDish (originally Blogging Baby). During that time, it's gone through a lot of changes in format, style, and personnel. Through all of that, I managed to hang on, despite my notable lack of talent. I was even selected to be one of the writers for the seasonal blog Holidash. On Friday, however, just shy of my third anniversary with ParentDish, I got an e-mail that said, in part, "effective today we will no longer need you working on ParentDish." Ouch. Apparently in the process of "fine tuning the voice of the site," my gravelly, backwoods drawl got tuned out. Mind you, I'm not angry about it; ParentDish has been "moving in new directions" for a while that weren't really where I wanted to go. Nor does it surprise me; they've been using a pitch system -- the writers suggest stories they want to write about and the editors pick the ones they want written -- since early this year and, lately, I've had very few stories approved. There have been a number of stories, even, that were later written up by other writers. Still, I'm certainly not happy about it -- it is definitely a bummer. I enjoyed the writing and was very proud to have been chosen in the first place and even more proud to have been kept on through a number of staff changes. The money didn't hurt either, I have to say. So while I'm not devastated, I am definitely down because of it. It's not over, however, until the fat blogger sings and I'm not planning on just giving up writing. I'll use the time to write more here and I'm going to look for other sites I can con into, er, convince to let me write for them. So, if you hear of any sites (parenting or otherwise) looking for writers, please let me know.
