Thursday, July 10, 2008 Rachel and I were discussing our morning routine and how, when she goes back to school in the fall, I would have to be able to get the kids up and out the door, and would thus not be able to work so much in the morning. To explain her need to get to school and, thus, my need to get the kids -- including Ezra -- dressed, fed, and moving, she said this to me: "I have a new principal; I can't be slacking off like I have been for the last fifteen years." Yes, she was dead serious. (For those unfamiliar with Rachel's teaching style, she gets to school early and leaves late -- before we had kids, she was at school from 6am to 6pm on a regular basis -- and then comes home and works more. She works a lot and she's damn good at what she does.) |
