Uncle Roger's Notebooks of Daily Life

Introduction

My life is, to me, ripe with frequent challenges, occasional successes, spontaneous laughter, adequate tears, and enough *life* to last me a lifetime. To you, however, it surely seems most pedestrian. And therefore, I recycle the name I used previously and call this my Notebooks of Daily Life. Daily, because it's everyday in nature, ordinary. These conglomeration of events that are my life are of interest to me because I live it, perhaps mildly so to those who are touched by it, and could only be of perverse, morbid curiosity to anyone else. Yet, I offer them here nonetheless. Make of them what you will, and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes.

The Conversations Of Parents

Rachel and I often use instant messaging to catch up when she gets home from school and while I'm still at work. It's a handy tool and a big help to us. Sometimes, though, the conversations can be, shall we say, unique.

Rachel:Hi!
Roger:Hi!
Rachel:How are you doing?
Rachel:Mom had a rough morning with Sara.
Roger:Uh-oh.
Rachel:Mom went upstairs to get Sara. She thought it was odd that she wasn't crying.
Rachel:When mom saw Sara she found that Sara was naked. She took off all of her clothes, diaper too.
Roger:Uh-oh.
Rachel:That's just the beginning. Mom got Sara dressed and then they went downstairs.
Rachel:Later on Sara wanted to play upstairs. Mom watched her go up and followed her. All of a sudden Sara was screaming.
Rachel:Mom ran in and found that Sara had picked up a piece of poop from the carpet. Sara was freaking out when she realized that she was holding shit.
Rachel:Mom took a better look around the room and found pebbles all over the place.
Rachel:She had to clean them up. Then she vacuumed. She didn't think to look for poop before. She did say that at least Sara doesn't like touching her poop. It freaks her out.
Roger:Sounds like fun
Roger:I think we need to get some more clothes with zippers. Or locks.
Rachel:She was wearing an outfit that had a zipper at the time.
Rachel:I think we should get some short-sleeved onesies that snap underneath. She can wear this under her pajamas. Then she can't get the diaper off.
Roger:Okay
Roger:Until she figures those out too.

How did I miss this? I used to put Rebecca's (it's always Rebecca somehow) one piece sleepers on backwards. she figured it out eventually but that time preferred being warm to naked.

That's not a bad idea... only I would think the higher back collar would be rather choking... Maybe we'll give it a try!
