Uncle Roger's Notebooks of Daily Life |

Thursday, July 21, 2005 I was reading Red Harvest, a journal usually way over my head, when I came across an entry that caught my eye. The author linked to a story on another site and said that reading it made him want to hug his son. Well, that's right up my alley, seeing as how I have a son. Unfortunately, the story was so disturbing that I became physically ill and nearly threw up. Further, it conjured up an image that has been stuck in my head since. It was so distressing that I didn't tell Rachel the details, even though she can handle such things far better than I. (She's read all of Dave Pelzer's books, as well as plenty others.) I don't know how anyone could do that to another human being, let alone a father to his son. I do know that, had I come upon such a situation, I would have simply killed the father and held the boy in my arms for a week. |
