Introduction My life is, to me, ripe with frequent challenges, occasional successes, spontaneous laughter, adequate tears, and enough *life* to last me a lifetime. To you, however, it surely seems most pedestrian. And therefore, I recycle the name I used previously and call this my Notebooks of Daily Life. Daily, because it's everyday in nature, ordinary. These conglomeration of events that are my life are of interest to me because I live it, perhaps mildly so to those who are touched by it, and could only be of perverse, morbid curiosity to anyone else. Yet, I offer them here nonetheless. Make of them what you will, and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes. Sinasohn.Net

Saturday, January 29, 2005 If you keep up with the Blosxom discussion group, you already know this, but for the rest of you, here's the scoop: I've updated fmtcat (again) and published an updated version of Gregory Bair's linksused plugin.
Among the many FAQ's out there on the internet is the Land Rover Not-So-FAQ, a list of questions and answers that the average newbie might not think to ask. I was browsing this list recently and came across a question which seemed appropos to me in particular:
Funny thing is, I don't remember selling my soul...
Avacor -- The Ultimate Excitement
I heard an ad on the radio this morning for Avacor, a hair loss remedy. There was a testimonial from a 39-year-old man who had been losing his hair for ten years. Avacor was restoring his hair and he "couldn't be more excited". (Yes, that's an actual quote.) That actually made me pause. I wondered about how regrowing hair could be the most exciting thing possible for this guy. He "couldn't be more excited" even if he won the lottery? Even if Steven Spielberg wanted to make a movie about his life? Even if the three most beautiful women in the world (in his opinion) wanted to spend a week alone on a tropical island with him? Even if B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Mark Knopfler performed a live concert together just for him? Maybe I can't understand because I've never experienced the devestation of hair loss -- but I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be something more exciting than regrowing hair... Like, say, broccoli?
Thanks: Craig -- Friendship and Family
Continuing with the December challenge, I would be quite remiss if I failed to mention my best friend Craig.
Do you back up your website? If you're like me and do all your development on a local machine before uploading it to your server, you might think you don't have to. You might also be wrong.
I've created a new plugin for Blosxom. I wrote this primarily for use with my photos, but it may be of interest to others.
Every time I dig in my pocket for my keys, I curse the bastards who make them necessary. There are, unfortunately, selfish cretins who would take that which does not belong to them, given the chance. I hate them and the inconvenience they force me to endure. My life would be much more enjoyable and certainly far more fulfilling were it not for them and the effort required to address their existence. Alas, the problem is not limited to theft. There are those who would take advantage of or otherwise harm children given the opportunity. These freaks are even worse than the thieves. Because of them, I have made some changes to my Photo Journal, removing any children's names. I will continue to hide them until such time as I am convinced there are no more wacko bastards out there -- which, I suspect, will be a very long time from now. As a preventive measure, let me make it perfectly clear that, if you harm my kids, I will kill you. Very slowly, very painfully.
So here's the second half of the January Blogging Challenge -- my goals for 2005. There are probably plenty more things I need to do and changes I ought to make, but this will have to do for starters.
I never really got around to finishing writing up my goals last year. What I did write up, however, I didn't do too well at accomplishing. Here's what I had, how I did, and my explanations.
Jason Clark has provided the impetus for this month's challenge -- come up with an evaluation of last year's goals and a new set of goals for this year.
I've started a new on-line journal called I Photograph to Remember. In theory, I'll post a new picture every day, but since I sometimes go for weeks without getting into my home office, the odds that that will happen are approximately the same as winning the lottery -- and given my druthers, I know which I'd pick. Still, it's a chance for me to get some of the images I've captured out there.
December is generally a very busy month and 2004's was no exception. I'm am not even close to the end of the list of people I need to thank for the December Blogging Challenge. So, with your kind permission, I'll continue it into January. (Actually, you don't really have a say in the matter, so sit down and shut up.) Thanks.
