Introduction My life is, to me, ripe with frequent challenges, occasional successes, spontaneous laughter, adequate tears, and enough *life* to last me a lifetime. To you, however, it surely seems most pedestrian. And therefore, I recycle the name I used previously and call this my Notebooks of Daily Life. Daily, because it's everyday in nature, ordinary. These conglomeration of events that are my life are of interest to me because I live it, perhaps mildly so to those who are touched by it, and could only be of perverse, morbid curiosity to anyone else. Yet, I offer them here nonetheless. Make of them what you will, and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes. Sinasohn.Net

Monday, November 22, 2004 Thanksgiving is just about the most significant holiday as far as I'm concerned. It's message -- recognizing all that one has to be thankful for -- is definitely one I can get behind. I, personally, have an awful lot to be thankful for -- my family and friends, especially. Because of that, I always try to make the most of the holiday to say thanks to those I care about and who have made a positive impact on my life. The Thanksgiving weekend, therefore, is almost always a very busy, hectic one. This year is no exception. In addition to the standard family dinner on Thursday, Rachel and I almost always host an informal Thanksgiving dinner/party for our close friends on Saturday. Add to that the San Francisco International Auto Show, the Harvest Festival, and (new this year), the Celebration of Craftswomen, and we end up with a very full schedule. The Auto Show, taking place at Moscone Center, is a neat event for both auto enthusiasts and casual observers. The displays of everyday cars -- Toyotas, Hondas, Chevys, etc. -- are great for those considering the purchase of a new car or those who simply have to keep up on all the latest products from all the manufacturers. The displays of the less common cars are neat for even those not especially interested in automobiles other than as a mode of transportation. I'll take Jared along, of course -- he loves to "drive", and I'm happy to let him push other people's buttons for a change. We've been going to the Harvest Festival for years. I'm not sure if we started going because The Edlos performed at it for a couple years or if we were going before then. There are a lot of neat things to see there and it's a great source for some interesting and often unique gifts. We've picked up a lot of gifts there, including some great butterscotch, kitchen utensils, clothing, candles, and more. There's also a festive atmosphere and some great entertainment. It has, I will admit, become more commercial and less unique in recent years. We also pass on the San Francisco dates due to the cramped quarters at the SF Concourse, opting instead for the larger venue of the San Jose Convention Center. On Sunday, we're planning to hit the Celebration of Craftswomen for the first time. The impetus is the entertainment -- Caren Armstrong is playing. We haven't seen her in concert since before Jared was born; it's about time. I am looking forward to seeing what sorts of interesting things they'll have there... This sort of event often turns up something new and innovative. So it looks like our schedule as of now will be:
That makes for a full weekend, and then some.
