Introduction My life is, to me, ripe with frequent challenges, occasional successes, spontaneous laughter, adequate tears, and enough *life* to last me a lifetime. To you, however, it surely seems most pedestrian. And therefore, I recycle the name I used previously and call this my Notebooks of Daily Life. Daily, because it's everyday in nature, ordinary. These conglomeration of events that are my life are of interest to me because I live it, perhaps mildly so to those who are touched by it, and could only be of perverse, morbid curiosity to anyone else. Yet, I offer them here nonetheless. Make of them what you will, and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes. Sinasohn.Net

Friday, December 31, 2004 It's the end of another year. A pretty serious one for me, it turns out.
A quick thanks to the Holy Trinity -- The Beatles, Mark Knopfler, and Eric Clapton -- for their amazing music and the effect it has had on me. Of course, they are not alone. There are so many others who have also made my life more enjoyable -- B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Antonio Vivaldi, Billy Joel, Olivia Newton-John, Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia and the Dead, Jean-Michel Jarre, Joseph Shabalala and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Reba McEntire, Taj Mahal, Utah Phillips, and many, many more.
Late last night -- or early this morning, to be more precise -- I became a member of the "requires assembly" crowd. At about 2am, I finished building and setting up Jared's new train table. So now I have twenty years of annual late-night assembly work to look forward to. In a few hours, I'll know if it's worth it. I suspect it will be.
Like many, I attended a midnight religious celebration on Christmas eve.
Daniel and I met because of our shared love of Land Rovers. Daniel has owned several, including some he brought back from South Africa. More than that, however, we have forged a deep friendship that goes beyond mere common interests.
Thanks: Stan -- Generosity Personified
Stan is without a doubt just about the kindest, most generous person I've ever met.
One of my recent entries generated some heated commentary (both on- and offline). In doing some research on the subject, I came across an excellent guide to photographer's rights prepared by a lawyer who is also a photographer (among other things). Bert P. Krages has also written a Legal Handbook for photographers if you are interested in even more info. If you are interested in photography at all, I strongly recommend reading the guide at the very least, just to be aware of your rights. And, while I'm on the subject, I'll offer another suggestion for your reading list, a Tale of Two Cameras. It's a guide to choosing between a digital SLR and a digital point-and-shoot. After reading it, I'm torn between lusting after the new Coolpix 8800 (I am currently using the (relatively) older 5700) and the new D2X Digital SLR. I'll also mention that before choosing, one ought to play around with the SimCam first. Last minute additions: Weblogs, Inc. has a Digital Photography weblog which pointed me to ByThom which has a lot of info about Nikon cameras. Oh, and if you're thinking about getting a digital camera, check out Steve's Digicams and Digital Photography Review for reviews, specs, and news of digital cameras.
Once upon a time, I was a young, inexperienced, person with no desire to significantly expand my horizons. Then I met Harry.
Thanks: Dad -- A Great Man, A Great Father
My father was a very special person. He was caring and obstinate. He loved his work and he loved to play. His life was far too short; it was far too full of challenge and tragedy. And yet, he was happy his whole life.
Thanks: Rachel -- Primo Partner
I'll start off by thanking my partner, wife, better half, Rachel. As of now, we've been together just over fifteen years and married for five. We have two kids, Jared and Sara.
